My faith is shattered, for years i thought that Edd was a pretty switched on mechanic, however, in the last episode he lost all respect in my eyes. While diagnosing the steering fault he decided to replace the steering box?????!! WTH was that about?? I have been a Land Rover mechanic for the last 10 years since leaving school. I have worked on thousands of discos and only replaced a handful of steering boxes. The kind of play evident on the vehicle could have been easily cured with a little adjustment on the top of the steering box!! 5 minutes labour and absolutely no parts. Also Mike seems to be some kind of fool, he said he wanted an expedition vehicle? Just adding a snorkel and a roof rack wont get you very far off road, admittedly the underbody protection was a great idea, but, where was the uprated/lifted suspension and the mud tyres? Bling does get you into darkest Africa! A bit of thought and some small improvements to what is already a very good off roader is more than enough. Rant over.

Definitely have to agree with 'fuzzyrover'. The principle was good but the overall execution was 'pants'. No lift or mud tyres, ground clearance is key to any good off-roader, they didn't even take off the side steps or tow bar, these should have been the first to go. What was with that spotlight bar, why not fasten them straight to the bumper like anybody else, could have saved £150 by buying cheaper spots and dumping the bar.

I actually feel that this series is weak. The show has lost its way a little, it's supposed to be about saving classics from the scrappy and the whole Disco program paid little homage to that. I also think that there is less and less time spent on filming the actual vehicle and fixing the 'faults'. Too much of the time is now spent reviewing the first 5 minutes of the show - I mean do we need a review after each commercial break?
Mike and Ed are good at what they do but I think the whole concept of fixing cars seems to have been lost. The shows from 3 - 4 years ago were much better.
Wheeler Dealers is the one program during the week I really look forward to but quite frankly the Land Rover Discovery episode was boring.

There will be people who found this interesting and was up their street, I agree it wasn't the best and they could have saved money with cheaper lights etc. but give them a break if you can only complain about 1 episode out of all the ones made then they are doing ok in my eyes, anyway you cannot please everyone all the time, did wonder about the steering box adjustment thing though, adjustment of the box was my 1st thought when he mentioned play in the steering
