It could be possible if there was enough fuel on the ground, and it was hot enough for the fuel to have reached its flash point, and the truck was sitting for long enough for the fuel vapour to have reached the engine bay, then it is possible that when they started the truck it could have ignited the fuel on the ground which could ignite the bulk of fuel.
get your science right before quoting it.
