Nostradamus starring Oliver Dimsdale and Kerry Fox premieres on Discovery Channel on Wednesday 17 May. Watch the programme to find out more about this mysterious man and his prophecies.

But do you believe in the prophecies of Nostradamus? Did he really predict World War II or 9/11? Share your views here.

As long as Nostradamus did not mislead himself by Astrology and Kaballa interpretations.

Do you know by the way, which year the film was produced. Say film specifications.

Anyway it was quite different than other Nostradamus films

No, it's all down to interpretation & hindsight, I've yet to see anyone predict something AHEAD of the event.

I've just watched "The Nostradamus Effect" again, in it one of the quatrains actually specifies a date, "In the year one thousand, nine hundred and ninety nine, in the seventh month". From this exact date one chap (I can't remember his name, but he's a senior member of the "Nostradamus Society of America - hmmm, NSA?) manages to get September 11, 2001. He does this by using the Julian calendar, in which September is the seventh month - fair enough it was back then. He goes on to say that 1999 is a numeric anagram of 9-11-1, notice the 9 at the front - if Nostradamus used the Julian calender to specify the seventh month as September, then the 9 should be November, but this chap ignores that & says that Nostradamus prophesied the WTC disaster on 9/11/2001. You can prove ANYTHING if you chop & change things to make them fit AFTER an event!

Agreed, and if old Nostro’ was alive today he would be making a very good living as a science fiction writer, he had a great imagination…

This thread seems to have shuffled off this mortal coil - it has gone to meet it's Maker - it is no more - it is an ex-thread. Wink
