Extreme travellers Mark and Olly live with the Kombai tribe, a rumoured cannibal tribe whose way of life hasn't changed since the Stone Age. Watch it Tuesdays at 10pm.

Does visiting tribal people improve our understanding of tribal culture? Or does it destroy the tribal way of life?

i think that its wonderful people want to learn about the tribes of west papua. i am however concerned about the people who were chosen for the expedition, as they are not following the ways of the people. i am afraid that they may come to breed a wrong image of the kombai

Superb series, glad we now have Discovery with Virgin cable.

Met Mark a month or so ago as they gave an inspirational talk at our prep school. Super presentation all about the expedition with clips of film, maybe on a bit late for the pupils with it on at 10pm. Wink Pupils are still talking about it.

Talking to him about my time in the South American rainforest. So many similartities, but the Amerindians are already quite westernised with inter tribe football cups.
