OK, this is MY opinion, I am entitled to it.
But surely no one likes the look of that thing? I mean, it's hideous. Don't get me wrong, the engine and AWD system was great, but they should of left it in the Golf, and let it alone. Seriously, that was a great example of an MK2, but now, it's gone. That car looks like a 206CC mixed with a Golf MK2 with some Scooby lights thrown in as an after thought. Lemme guess, here comes the flames then the screw from the mods for my own opinion? Gay. |

totally agree with u mate it made me cringe to c leepooooooo destroy a mk2 golf, all he had to do was some tastefull mods like flared arches to incorparate the wide wheel base of the scoobie and some smoothing off! he just goes too far with his so called design, and if i was johny vegas i would off mugged it off...
as for Julian and the others i think they could have a show off there own as they clearly have the talent...i was so put off with the second part of the volcano car that i vowed never to watch the show again as it wound me up that much! |

i cannot believe what leepoo has done to this car,he has totally wrecked it. does that man never listen to anyone or anything? he might be a good designer but no one is that good if you dont listen to what people say. we watch this programme and i get more and more angry each time i see him ignoring what the people who pay his wages say. if i was jonny vegas i would have told him to rip it all off and put it back to what i had asked for. as for lee and the gang they need to get a hell of a lot more credit than they do.

Leepu works from the mind...a picture in the head is all he needs...then bang...it's a design. Whether you like it or not...it is happening. you can't say..I want a certain design, because it ain't gonna happen!!

An opinion is great, critisism, everybody should take, but bull**** like this NO one should take, mate, if you worked to the deadlines we had too, and, understood the programme, budget and time constrasints, you would critisise differently. LOOK at the programmes correctly, there is no bull****, hard work, creativity and a finished product which is a stand alone masterpiece.( 95% of people who saw it in the flesh said so) Just for your info, Johhny Vegas loved the car, and its his opinion, not mine or Leepus. Anyway, go to work geezer, by the way what do you do for a living, a Tax inspector or a traffice warden, and no, i dont mince words, Now F**k off Mr Critique

i have loved this series of the chop shop and love how it actually shows the projects from all angles and covers problems etc.
i own a subaru impreza turbo and to see the conversion into the golf amazed me, i couldnt wait for test day to see what it pulled like. i was loving the work until the body mods started. i think that leepu should have left the rear quarter window how it was and not used the front quarter bumpers etc, but overall i was impressed, well done guys, |

Bernie,
Johnny Vegas may have said he liked that monstrosity of a car which Leepu designed, but the real test is whether Vegas actually uses that car. Vegas asked for something discreet (I am quoting his exact words). That car is the complete opposite. In my honest opinion, and judging by what others have said on here, you or someone in the Chop Shop should have "put your foot down" and stopped Leepu doing that to the Golf. Regards, Andy |

Hi Bernie,
I have watched your show since the days of Bangla Bangers and even i have to to bow down in respect and admiration at what you and Leepu do, granted not all of the designes are to my liking but that's not important to me what is important to me is the skill in which you, Leepu and the crew smash and bang those cars into some kind of poetry in motion it shows me that there are respectable ways in wiping your backside with the rule book and that there is no shame in doing so... as for the Volcano car granted it wasn't what Johny asked for but honestly said he would have been an absolute prat to have turned it down ok wasn't to sure of the front grill area but over all the car was an absolute minter of a car my favorite is still the running gear but the design is definately not a bad one, far from it, Chop Shop London Garage has even been an inspiration to me to start my own long term project of building a street legal superbike powered mini and i hope i can share the finished project with you and you crew one day Best regards, Ryan from South Africa This message has been edited. All I can say is that I loved the car, the work and effort but into all the cars is amazing.
Must admit, there are a couple of cars which did not 'float my boat' but on the whole they're great cars..... I saw the Martin Kemp 'Gangster car' a couple of days ago and found out that it's going to be crushed...WTF..!! I'd like to know how much VW Action paid for it so I can Buy it off of them and save it... any ideas...I know where it is...hehe, should I just nick it???!!! |

I recently watched the makeup of the volcano car,
yes our country is a bit back with the episodes, but what a great car. I own a 82 golf Gti in original condition and i would have loved it to be turned into a volcano car. First, I'd like to say it's a great show, and appreciate how much work goes in.....but I thought the volcano car was awful. Like the others above, I think the the mk2 golf with the scoobie mechanicals was great..Respect to Lee & Julian.
It's the old conflict between artistic and engineering design, The latter is about function, efficiency, and fitness-for-purpose. Optimally, a nice light space frame could have been built around the scoobie mechanicals, then any kind of light one-piece body over the top. I'm sure the handing would be more predictable. Take a look at the Lotus Elan (but please don't cut one up). I haven't seen all the programmes, but yet to hear anything from the (required?) road safety inspector. The original Jet1 designer raised the safety issue. And finally..I enjoyed the Bangladesh footage very much. I taught engineering design for two years at Mirpur Agricultural Workshop and Training School (MAWTS) in Dhaka! Best wishes |

Hi Chop Shop Team
Guys have the skills and Leepu is the spice of the shop. I loved 4x4 and subaru. Design was original. Rear end needed original subaru boot- suits better. Roof- ok. front- ok front bumpers- thats look little bit weird. Car is for driving and original. Haters are just negative persons. Let the dogs bark- caravan will move on! Small tips from me. Cars are much better: *When you have more time *Bigger budget *MOST IMPORTANT- Leepu have to be under pressure!!!!! Its nice to see Leepu is growing in this progress. Most important is quality look at the end- then some radical designs are easier to take! Keep Up The Good Work!!! |
